Puppy Class

Puppy Classes Offered at Shiloh Veterinary Hospital!

Puppy Pre-School – Recommended for ages 7-14 Weeks on the first day of class (may take older puppies if they’re fearful or tiny)

Learn how to properly socialize your pup and help him/her to develop into a calm, confident adult dog!  Dogs who have been properly socialized as pups learn to accept changes well, enjoy having new experiences, and are less likely to become fearful or aggressive.  They also can learn self control and have a solid foundation to become great family pets! Take advantage of this early learning period & help your puppy develop into an awesome dog!

Details

– Classes are held in a basement training room at Manchester area office.

– This class is given in an ongoing 4-week format.  Puppies may begin any week as soon as they have met the health requirements, and continue for 4 weeks.

– Puppies must have at least one DHPP vaccine no less than 10 days before starting class and an intranasal Bordetella vaccine at least 5 days before class.  They also need a stool sample tested for intestinal parasites.

–  Each class is 60-90 minutes long.

Puppy Kindergarten – Ages 8-20 Weeks (on first day of class)

At this age, puppies will soon begin their ‘Juvenile Period’ of development, which is similar to our teen years.  This is a time of rapid growth, increased excitability, and independence.  Puppies in this period need consistent leadership (not to be confused with ‘dominance’), lots of daily exercise, and training with positive reinforcement.  This can be a frustrating time for owners, which is a great reason to take your pup to classes!  Learn to capture your puppy’s attention and begin the foundation training for a lifetime of canine manners!
